Concord Visitor Center

The Challenge

A new Visitor Center and Public Restroom Facility was to be sited between two large brick banks. The building needed to be welcoming for both residents and visitors. A mature tree on the site had to be preserved.

The Response

The materials in the building reflect those of its neighbors, while a large, overhanging roof gives the small building presence and creates a covered walkway and exterior meeting space. The building sits on a shallow grade beam foundation which saved the roots of the adjacent tree.
